Hashtag musician life. 

Today I’m fielding messages from randos on FB marketplace who are legit haggling with me over already cheap AF prices on stuff they likely have no intention of actually coming to get.  This, while getting mentally prepared to teach the first of 8 once weekly classes teaching about women composers to a bunch of beautifully nerdy older folks who are joining me online. 

I love teaching this group because most of these people are of an age where the majority of their lives are behind them, but they’re still curious and also very VERY honest with their feedback. It also gives me a great excuse to research and spend time refining various topics within the classical music world I inhabit.  Yay!  I’m gonna firehose them with tasty testers and an overview of what to expect over the course of the next two months. 

Prediction: they will get all fired up but still have a hard time with the more experimental composers like Éliane Radigue or Kajia Saariaho.

Afterward I get to run off to a rehearsal of music by Errollyn Wallen and Elizabeth Brown which immediately precedes a performance of the full movie The Empire Strikes Back with live orchestra AS IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE PERFORMED but buck up camper this is what we do now. 😂💪🏽😎 

Highlight of the morning so far has been sleeping in and having as much coffee as I can manage while dreaming up the most delicious food bribery options to get me through the day, and step by step, make it to wine and popcorn for dinner.  Actually that last part is a lie.  I will definitely be taking a walk outside before sinking into the couch.  This is a requirement for mental and physical health purposes.

Plus wine and snacks doesn’t hurt.
